Glacier Falls to Great Falls by Seven

Great Falls, MT. – The Glacier Range Riders (6-8) couldn't keep pace with the Great Falls Voyagers (11-4) Thursday night on the road, as they fell by a score of 11-4.

Austin Edwards got through his first professional inning scoreless, but the Voyagers got to him in the next two innings, scoring a lone run in both the second and the third. A big defensive play was made to end the bottom of the third, when catcher Felix Aberouette just barely tagged out a Great Falls baserunner before he could successfully steal home and kept the score at 2-0. A Great Falls coach, however, disagreed with the call and the ensuing argument resulted in his ejection from the game.

That disqualification seemed to spark something for the Glacier offense, as they responded with two runs in the top of the fourth. The spurt started with two outs as Livingston Morris doubled of the left fielder's head to put himself in scoring position. Vinny Bologna drove him home on an RBI single, and soon after Michael Knell pushed Bologna across the plate on a double to tie the game at two.

Unfortunately, the Voyagers offense hit the jets to score four unanswered and take back the lead. Jared Fry and Brody Wofford each brought home runs in the late innings to bring Glacier within striking distance, but the kids from Great Falls again answered with force. Five straight runs from the Voyagers put the contest out of reach, resulting in the 11-4 score line. Morris and Broussard each had two hits for the Range Riders, while Morris also scored twice.

With the series only halfway done, Glacier and Great Falls will again battle Friday, June 10th at Centene Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7 PM.
