Glacier Survives Late Boise Run to Surpass 2022 Win Total

BOISE, Idaho – The Glacier Range Riders (40-28) officially have their winningest season in franchise history.

After gaining a lead by as much as six runs, the Range Riders came up with clutch pitching to escape a late rally from the Boise Hawks (37-34) and win a Saturday night contest by the score of 11-9. The win was number 40 on the season for Glacier, which officially has them over the 2022 win total of 39. Beating your previous win record is one thing, doing it with just under a month to go in the season, however, now that's something to write home about.

A 0-0 game was broken in the top of the third inning when Gabe Howell led off the frame with a double and two batters later, Dean Miller doubled him home. In the fourth, Glacier rallied for four runs thank to a Colin Gordon RBI single and a Jackson Raper three RBI bases clearing double.

When Boise hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, Glacier answered with three, pushing runs across thanks to a Ben Fitzgerald double, a Mason Dinesen sac fly, and another Gordon run scoring single. Miller had another double in the sixth that scored a run and Gordon finished with another RBI thanks to his double in the seventh.

After the seventh inning stretch, the Hawks rallied. A solo home run to lead off the inning then a two-run single put the tying run at the plate. Out of the bullpen came Montana Quigley who inherited a tough situation with some red-hot bats but limited the damage getting a strike out and a ground out to end the frame.

A Boise batter would not hit the ball into fair territory the rest of the contest.

Roy Robles struck out the side in the eighth and when Gordon brought across a run on a fielder's choice for some insurance in the top of the ninth, that was more than enough for Justin Coleman to come on and slam the door shut in the ninth. JCole struck out the first two Hawks swinging before he caught the final batter looking to grab his seventh save of the season.

Not only was this a record-breaking win for Glacier, but it gives them the season series against Boise with their fifth win in eight tries over the Hawks. The Range Riders will play their final game against the southern division foe Sunday at 1:05 PM at Memorial Stadium.
